BIO:

Ann Woo was a local arts administrator and community leader. Born in China in 1942, she emigrated to San Francisco when she was fourteen years old. After graduating from UC Berkeley, she spent 30 years working in tech. When she retired, she put most of the money she had earned into founding the Chinese Performing Arts of America (CPAA), a non-profit organization and cultural center in San Jose. She worked to promote interest in traditional Chinese arts until her tragic death on August 25th, 2017. The center continues to flourish and consists of a professional Chinese dance company, an after-school program, and a multicultural arts incubator that is  home to ten studios that teach classes in Indian, Latino, and European traditions, in addition to Chinese.
