“With this design, the community is reminded that immigrants live and immigrants MAKE our community. Immigrants enrich East San José and beyond. When read, the title serves as an affirmation that this community celebrates immigrants who have been here and welcomes new immigrants. They are our community members. Immigrants are more than immigrants, they are residents. Immigrants live here!

 

Con este diseño, se recuerda a la comunidad que los inmigrantes viven y hacen nuestra comunidad. Los inmigrantes enriquecen el Este de San José y más allá. Cuando se lee, el título sirve como una afirmación de que esta comunidad celebra a los inmigrantes que han estado aquí y da la bienvenida a los nuevos inmigrantes de hoy y del futuro. Son miembros de nuestra comunidad. Los inmigrantes son más que inmigrantes, son residentes. ¡Inmigrantes viven aquí!” – Ruby Morales

“Immigrants Live Here” is one of twelve (12) banners in the “She is More” Series, an East San Jose Artist Residency. This temporary installation is created with the support of the ¡Si Se Puede Collective! and Abierto Program, a City of San Jose initiative that funds artistic activations of San Jose public spaces.
