Cherri Lakey is the founder of Phantom Galleries, a Two Fish Design partner, and the co-owner of urban contemporary art and culture gallery Anno Domini. Along with her partner, Brian Eder, Lakey has created space for San José’s arts community since the 1990s. Her dedication to the arts has evolved over 30 years as she has written and provided downtown exhibit space for artists in empty windows, on South First Street, bare walls, and gallery space. Her knowledge and experience in the arts and cultural community has supported many emerging artists by giving them the opportunity to exhibit for the first time. The First Friday Art Walk, Anno Domini gallery, Phantom galleries, KALEID gallery, and the 15-year-old SubZERO Festival are all components of Lakey’s dedication to San José’s arts and creative community.
